Description: |
This strain carries a conditional mutation in the endogenous Brca2 gene. LoxP sites were inserted into introns surrounding exon 11 in the Brca2 locus. Mice carrying the floxed allele have normal development and life span. Removal of the region flanked by the LoxP sites results in mice with the same phenotype as as mice with a conventional Brca2-null mutation - heterozygotes are normal and homozygotes fail to develop. |
