Strain Description: These mice carry a latent point-mutant allele of Kras2 (K-rasG12D). Cre-mediated recombination leads to deletion of a transcriptional termination sequence (Lox-Stop-Lox) and expression of the oncogenic protein.
Intranasal infection with an adenovirus encoding Cre resulted in a very high frequency of lung tumors.

Mutation Information
  Mutation Type: Targeted
Gene Name: Kirsten rat sarcoma oncogene, 2 expressed
  Gene Symbol: Kras
  Transgene Name:
  Transgene Symbol:
  Promoter Name:
  Promoter Symbol:
  Current Genetic Background: B6.129
  Approx. Generation:
  Organ Site : Lung

Husbandry: Breeder pairs are supplied as heterozygotes. This Kras allele is non-functional in its germline configuration, therefore the mice are maintained by backcrossing heterozygous animals to C57BL/6.
Genotyping Information: Protocol 1: Allele: Kras
