Description: |
These mice carry a latent point-mutant allele of Kras2 (K-rasG12D). Cre-mediated recombination leads to deletion of a transcriptional termination sequence (Lox-Stop-Lox) and expression of the oncogenic protein. Intranasal infection with an adenovirus encoding Cre resulted in a very high frequency of lung tumors. Homozygotes die in utero. |

Husbandry: |
Breeder pairs are supplied as a heterozygote (male or female) x wildtype C57BL/6 mate. This Kras allele is non-functional in its germline configuration, therefore the mice are maintained by backcrossing heterozygous animals to C57BL/6. Average litter size is 9. |
